Not that it was easy, but it was easier than juggling a bunch of different jobs on top of school. Plus any good grad program pays you to go :)Abandoning Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12696116071749613265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8552682727548828725.post-60806207311479065642008-06-16T20:58:00.000-04:002008-06-16T20:58:00.000-04:00I've wanted to become a history professor since th...I've wanted to become a history professor since the age of 15; I know this is what I want long term. I've been working 2-3 job throughout undergrad. Thanking a year off to...work sounds appealing precisely because that would be all I'd have to do. After the last few years, a 50 hour work week sounds positively decadent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8552682727548828725.post-35521967341628485222008-06-16T18:30:00.000-04:002008-06-16T18:30:00.000-04:00I went straight from undergrad..i had a job (or 3)...I went straight from undergrad..i had a job (or 3) all through undergrad so the thought of taking time off to work more was unappealing to say the least. :) But i was also obsessed with going to grad school from the time I was a freshman, and had taken the GREs a year early...Abandoning Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12696116071749613265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8552682727548828725.post-64368920054993642952008-06-16T16:34:00.000-04:002008-06-16T16:34:00.000-04:00I'm about to start applying for PhD programs for h...I'm about to start applying for PhD programs for history and I'm anxious about the whole process. I have my "good shot" and "snowball's chance in hell" lists.

Did you go straight from your undergrad to the PhD program? I'm thinking of not applying for another year and applying for fellowships and jobs for the year after I graduate.

You're lucky that you've found someone who is so supportive of your career goals. I haven't even looked...to busy doing homework.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
