About Me

My photo
Abandoning Eden

I grew up right wing modern orthodox Jewish, stopped keeping shabbas and kosher (secretly) in 1997 when I was 15, told my parents I was no longer religious in family therapy in 2000, reminded them a few more times in 2003 (until it finally sunk in), and admitted to myself that I didn't believe in god in 2006. In 2007 I met my husband B, an atheist and lapsed catholic, and we married in 2009. In 2010 I finished my PhD, we moved to the South where I got a job as an assistant professor, and we bought a house. In July 2013 we had a baby girl, C.

This blog is where I write about my relationship with my orthodox family, growing up jewish and going "off the derech," being a mom, home owner stuff, my veggie/fruit/herb gardening, my dogs Barkley and Max, and various other things I care about.

I can be contacted by emailing abandoningeden (at) gmail (dot) com. I reserve all rights to post any email sent to me to this blog. I don't respond to emails very regularly.
