Milestones going by...

Today is my parent's 29th wedding anniversary. I feel weird about not calling my mom on their anniversary, which is what I have usually done in the past. But I guess I can't exactly call her to say hi after that letter she sent me, since she's made it clear she doesn't want a relationship with me. Not that I think she would hang up on me. But I don't think she wants me to call.

Meh. Meanwhile I'm stuck at work cause I am STILL working on that paper I told my prof I needed an extra week for (last week). I should probably not be blogging right now.

ETA: 7:30, still in the office but down from 10 articles an hour ago to only 3 left to incorporate into the paper! I decided to send my dad a text message saying "Happy anniversary!" cause that's how I roll. Or something.

  1. You got to move on from this parents thing. If you can't get help to help you move on.

  2. Wow, you are a fast reader. Or are the papers superficial fluff??

  3. oh I read all the papers in advance (over the last 3 weeks), and wrote up notes on them- I was just going through each paper (and my notes) and incorporating them into a big lit review for a research paper I'm writing.

  4. Good luck with the work and with the parents! I think it was nice of you to send the text, but I don't know your parents, so ignore me. :)

  5. Very nice of you. For those telling you to move on, you are moving on. You are working, studying, getting married, making plans to have a family, etc. That sounds like moving on to me. The fact is your parents still are your parents no matter what. You can't just simply not think about them or what has happened. I think it sounds like you are balancing this well. If you feel like this is depressing you or interfering with your life, then by all means get help, but some things just take time.

  6. nice. just because their heads are mislocated re: your life doesn't mean you have to roll similarly. It's nice that you can still be mentschy about their stuff, even though they probably will not do the same for you. You raised yourself well.
